I first met Abby, founder of yoga studio East of Eden, earlier this year when I was working on a personal photography project in Walthamstow. I’d taken portraits of her and her son, and Abby had told me the story of her business and how it had been affected by the pandemic.
It was great to hear then that the studio was all back up and running, so when Abby asked me to take some brand photographs I jumped at the chance… and wow what a great community space she’s created right in the heart of Walthamstow.
Aside from its four studios, where you can join 100+ in person classes each week, including yoga, pilates, barre and sound baths, there’s also two treatment rooms, a vegetarian cafe and a mini shop! It’s such a beautifully zen place to hang out, with a super friendly team and Gizmo the studio dog who greets everyone on arrival.
Abby asked me to capture the cafe in use, plus take a few shots of her team that could be used across the website and social media. I spent a fun couple of hours hanging out in the cafe, getting to know her team and chatting to some of the regulars. I’m really pleased with how the photos turned out and I’m really looking forward to visiting East of Eden as a customer next time since it’s practically on my own doorstep!
